Second Life Cathedral facing rent rise crisis

Second Life has announced that half price rents are no longer to be granted to NGOs and religious organisations. So this blog explains (in two currencies) the shortfall so donors can help the Second Life Cathedral to raise enough funds to survive.  I don't want to belittle Second Life and all its works but isn't there is a huge irony in  a fundraising campaign to protect a virtual church in a virtual environment?  Don't human beings have rather larger fish to fry? Clearly the cost of virtual living is rising and Second Life needs to monetise. I wonder what virtual fundraising looks like? I know! Let's get some virtual nuns in a choir singing Motown tunes..  Enough already..
