Gaga – its about the artist (sorry brand) stupid

Lady-gaga-the-muppet_444x355 Interesting blog post here about MIA's criticism of Lady Gaga producing derivative work. Which sounds suspiciously close to the product brand debate – which is more important? Some times product performance is all the matters – but an artist can still build a sparkling and much extended career by being interesting even if the work isn't particularly. It was ever thus on planet marketing. And those who labour to produce the best possible product are predictably sour grapes about the ability of a storytelling brand to trump great products with inferior ones. That's the point folks. Branding is cheaper and more effective. And lasts longer. Next?
