Hallelujah Chorus

2004-12-03currents_messiah I thought I shouldn't let this weekend go past without referencing the Sing Hallelujah project which is trying to get as many people as possible to join choirs and sing the Hallelujah Chorus on the 250th anniversary of Handel writing the oratorio The Messiah. I blogged last month about singing it from scratch in the Albert Hall with another 5000 people.

And my favourite version of the Hallelujah Chorus. I have linked a lto a video cover above by another choir using the same score  which ain't bad. And here's a British choir doing the same. But the best by far is the original conceived by Mervyn Warren of Take 6, conducted by Quincy Jones with an absurd choir which includes (wait for it) Gladys Knight, Paul Anka, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Al Jarreau and a whole lot more. And its huge. Enjoy!
