Out of sight, mind, network connection

Paperbagonhead Sorry for being so quiet this last week – I had taken it for granted (silly me) that it would be possible to get in the odd blog or tweet while I was in the Brecon Beacons area – a prime tourist area for Wales. Alas no – my phone and hence data capability was usable perhaps 10 minutes a day usually on top of mountains. In our party we had O2 and Vodaphone users and everyone had the same problem. Now it was a holiday so taking a break from mobile and internet access is I am sure a good thing. But when the big 4 claim they have universal coverage just ignore them. Its not true. The mobile network in this country was built by driving technicians around in the back of vans – a cheap but not very efficient way of mapping where to put your mobile phone masts.  Assume as soon as you get into low population areas that mobile coverage is going to be patchy – is there a site where we can map the patches and shame the operators into doing something about it?
