Rattling good yarns

Stgeorge Today I was in a meeting to consider how to communicate with pub landlords. Almost by default we were looking at the web as delivery system. But as the meeting continued and we discovered that the marketing manager had in the past been a landlord the stories started to flow – with funny stories there is always an element of competition and she topped it all with an anecdote about when she sent posters all over the country to promote St Georges day only to discover that  enraged Welsh publicans were burning her poster in  pub car parks all over Wales. Bet they wouldn’t have done that with the Irish flag on St Patricks day… But it got me thinking about how knowledge is passed on and how central storytelling almost certainly is to how people whose lives revolve around pubs.  But how to get the storytelling into a suitable form for the web and will it travel?
