My wife succumbed to the blandishments of the local milkman and signed up for doorstep delivery. This was the result. A PVC container left in the full Friday sunshine – it would have been yoguhurt by lunchtime. This is what the milkround has come to. Now you need to understand that in my first advertising job I worked on a rather famous campaign at the time – Milk’s gotta lotta bottle. And in a summer job I spent early mornings working as a milkman for the Co-op so I have certain expectations of what is going to turn up on the doorstep.  I’ve always had a soft spot for doorstep delivery.  But if all they do is drop off plastic containers they’ve undermined one of the main motivations for using a milkman – all that recycling. 50 yards from this doorway is a cornershop which sells exactly the same item for 20 pence less.  I think I’ll save money and walk over the road…
